The slot exchange agreement will help to claw back any loss in time from increasing port coverage to Japan to total 28 days on SCX rotation from Cai Mep to Los Angeles compared to the TP-6 which has a 20-day transit. Each carrier will deploy 500 TEU a week.

"The new slot exchange will allow Maersk Line to provide a more economically viable coverage into a market currently served via transshipment, enhancing service on-time integrity and avoiding less fuel efficient feeder connections," said a Maersk spokesman, reported London's Containerisation International.
